October's Tip, Trick and Trend Report

This month’s tip, trick and trend report focuses on the upcoming holidays. The holidays are filled with running around from party to party and left with no time to plan and prepare for your own gathering. Here are some fun holiday ideas to make your planning a breeze.

Tip: Here are some tips to keep your guests, of all ages, entertained throughout the night!

Halloween is an easy one for fun activities! Have the kids bob for apples, carve pumpkins, or treat them to a spooky treasure hunt. For the adults, create a great themed party atmosphere with Toxic Cocktails and a Costume Contest.

Thanksgiving is a holiday for family and friends to gather and socialize, which can be difficult for kids. This year think about having fun activities to liven up your Thanksgiving and keep the kids happy. Something simple like a word search or an edible craft can provide hours of entertainment for the children, while the adults nibble on Thanksgiving snacks and watch the games.

Christmas parties are always fun, but try adding something more! Activates such as a Gingerbread House contest, cookie recipe swap, or a white elephant gift exchange can get people interacting. You could even keep it simple with a hot cocoa bar or a cookie decorating station, beware of the messy sprinkles!

Trick:  Feeling a bit overwhelmed with your long to-do list before your party?  Planning ahead is as simple as 1, 2, 3!

1. Make your list and check it twice.  Prepare a list of needed grocery items, decorations and double count your RSVP’s.

2. Cut and prep all your ingredients the day before to help save time the day of your event. You could even make some of the main entrĂ©es the morning of your big day and keep them all in a 200 degree oven which mimics a warming drawer.  Double check to make sure that you have all the supplies you need, including decorations!

3. The morning of your event, be sure to get an early start. Leave yourself plenty of time to decorate and layout all the food.  Don’t be afraid to ask for help from your spouse, kids, or a friend attending the event.  It can make set-up just that much more enjoyable!  Lastly, be sure to give yourself enough time to primp and prepare yourself!

Trend: want to spice up your typical Holiday Gathering?  Are chestnuts roasting on an open fire and Christmas Carols playing in the background just not cutting it anymore?

Try hosting an Ugly Sweater Party, White Elephant Gift Exchange, or a Christmas Carol Karaoke Night!  You are sure to keep your guests entertained and make memories all throughout the night.
